Have you ever realized how often you took a deep breath on any given day? I’ve been tuning in to how shallow I tend to breathe normally. Thank goodness for exercise, when we’re forced to breathe deeper. But I think we should all start consciously taking deep breaths as often as we can throughout the day. Why? Check out this list.
Just Some Benefits of Deep Breathing:
1. The single best thing we can do to gain energy is breathe deeply.
2. Helps to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which gives the body a chance to recuperate, regenerate and heal. So breathing deep helps keep the immune system healthy and makes for more efficient digestion.
3. Cancer can’t survive in oxygenated environments.
4. Muscles, however, love oxygen.
5. Massages vital organs and improves circulation in them.
6. Fights inflammation by reducing the levels of acidity in your body.
7. Relaxes the mind & body and brings clarity.
8. Releases toxins in your body.
9. Improves the nervous system.
10. Elevates your mood.
There are plenty more benefits, but isn’t that enough to make you more conscious of your breathing? So, take some time each day to slowly breathe really deep into your abdomen. And don’t forget to exhale completely each time, emptying out all the body’s (and mind’s) waste.
