Recipe: Golden Milk

My friend passed this golden milk recipe along and I’m so very grateful! Turmeric, as we know by now, is one of the best anti-inflammatory foods we can consume. Check out its benefits:

  • Anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, antiseptic, analgesic.
  • Boosts immunity. Pain reliever.
  • Anti-carcinogenic.
  • Helps maintain cholesterol levels.
  • Promotes digestive health.
  • Liver detoxifier.
  • Regulates metabolism and weight management.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Memory and brain function.
  • Various skin conditions.
  • Neurological disorders.
  • Lowers Triglycerides

So imagine if you could get your daily dose without having to spend hours slaving in the kitchen! Well, imagine no further!

 

Golden Milk:

Step 1: Turmeric Paste

  • 1/4 cup of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground pepper (increases absorption of turmeric)
  • 1/2 cup of filtered water
Place all the ingredients into a sauce pan and cook over medium-heat, stirring often. Stir until the mixture becomes thick and paste like, it shouldn’t take long. Allow the mixture to cool and then store in the refrigerator.
Step 2: Golden Milk
  • 1 cup of almond milk (hemp or coconut milk is also a good option if you don’t drink dairy)
  • 1 teaspoon of coconut oil (or avocado, flax, sesame oil)
  • 1/4 teaspoon or more of turmeric paste
  • Honey or maple syrup
Mix all ingredients except the honey in a pot for cooking. Place the pot over medium heat. Stir constantly, without letting it boil. Add honey at the end for taste. You can also add cinnamon, vanilla, cardamom, ginger and any other spices to your liking! YUM! This makes a great night-time hot drink!
