Hooked on TED: Getting Stuck in the Negative and How to Get Unstuck (Alison Ledgerwood)

Do our minds get stuck in the negatives? We generally have to work harder to see the upside of things. This would explain why it takes society such a long time to change its mind about something.

On a personal level, it takes effort to see the positive. One thing that will make it easier? Talk more about the good stuff.  We’re well versed in talking about the bad stuff, which keeps us stuck in the negative.

Practice daily. Let your mind swim around the positive things that happened today. When someone bombards you with something negative, ask them to point out the positive in that situation. We all need to help each other with this; and it’s important to start practicing now because it sure seems like our world has been swirling around in negativity an awful lot lately.
