I’m ready to shake the old beliefs that keep me from reaching my potential…are you with me?
I’ve been pretty diligent most of my life in tackling the negative mindset that can have me spiraling into despair for months on end. But I’ve recently come into contact with some lingering beliefs that are still knocking around down there. Most have to do with money, but some still lingering are about me and my capabilities.
Let’s do this exercise together. List the first five thoughts that come to mind about money. Mine are:
- I can’t afford it
- Rich people suck
- I don’t have enough
- I’ll never make lots of money
- People will never pay for what I offer
Yuck. That’s a pretty dangerous tape that’s running behind the scenes, even when I consciously make efforts to think positive and more hopeful thoughts! But when I did this exercise, actually wrote down those thoughts, I felt like I was better able to call them out on their shit and say good riddance to them. I challenged each one, finding evidence to the contrary, and uncovered what I really think, which truly does come from a place of abundance, not lack.
When left on auto-pilot, I just habitually spit out those disruptive hand-me-downs from my parents and society, who wanted me to be practical and play it safe so as not to get hurt. But I need to move forward and become what I intend to become, so good riddance! I’m officially replacing those reactions to money:
- Money always comes to me
- I will allow money to flow through me
- People with money are doing great things to make positive changes in the world
- I have plenty and will make unlimited amounts
- People value my gifts
It feels much healthier and lighter because it’s authentic. How about you? Try it on whatever topic you’re stuck at. Relationships, money, career, etc. List the first five thoughts that come to mind and change the ones that are repressive. Make a diligent effort to change your reactions and work to really believe that anything is possible.
